Sophiahemmet University has trained nurses since 1884, when Queen Sophia founded a school on Florence Nightingale's model. About 1,300 students take nursing, midwifery and specialist nursing programmes in Swedish. Some 30 researchers work in health science, with doctoral rights since 2017. The campus is on Valhallavägen in central Stockholm, on the edge of the National City Park.
